Alabama, Auburn 5-star target Anthony Jones hopes to narrow choices soon…

Anthony “Tank” Jones, a five-star edge rusher from Mobile, Alabama, has become one of the most sought-after prospects in the 2026 recruiting class. Standing at 6-foot-4 and weighing 240 pounds, Jones has garnered attention from top-tier programs nationwide, including Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, LSU, Ohio State, and Oregon. As he approaches a pivotal moment in his recruitment, Jones aims to narrow down his list of potential colleges in the near future.

Currently playing for St. Paul’s Episcopal High School, Jones has demonstrated exceptional talent on the field. In his sophomore year, he recorded 87 solo tackles, 22 assists, 8 tackles for loss, and 8 sacks, earning him a first-team Class 6A All-State selection. His combination of speed, strength, and football intelligence has positioned him as the No. 1 edge rusher in the 2026 class and the top prospect in Alabama.

Jones’s recruitment journey has been active and comprehensive. He has taken visits to several prominent programs, including Oregon, LSU, Clemson, Alabama, and Florida. During his visit to Oregon, he expressed admiration for the coaching staff, particularly head coach Dan Lanning, stating, “He’s always going to keep it real with you.” This sentiment reflects Jones’s desire for authenticity and transparency in his future coaches.

In addition to Oregon, Jones has shown interest in Texas A&M, scheduling a visit to College Station. His recruitment has been marked by a series of offers from prestigious programs, highlighting his status as a national prospect.

As Jones contemplates his future, he has emphasized the importance of finding a program that aligns with his personal and professional goals. He seeks an environment that will not only develop his on-field abilities but also prepare him for life beyond football. “Somewhere to take care of my family, somewhere to take care of me, and somewhere that will prepare me for life after football,” Jones articulated.

The decision-making process for a recruit of Jones’s caliber involves evaluating various factors, including coaching philosophies, program culture, development opportunities, and educational support. His upcoming visits and interactions with coaching staffs will play a crucial role in shaping his final decision.

As the recruitment landscape evolves, Jones remains a focal point for several powerhouse programs. His unique skill set and mature approach to the recruitment process make him a valuable asset for any team. As he narrows down his choices, the college football community eagerly awaits his decision, anticipating the significant impact he will have at the next level.

In conclusion, Anthony “Tank” Jones’s recruitment journey is a testament to his exceptional abilities and thoughtful approach to his future. As he moves closer to finalizing his college destination, his blend of athleticism, intelligence, and character ensures that he will be a standout player and individual, both on and off the field.
