Will Howard’s path to Ohio State was unconventional. Born on September 24, 2001, in Downingtown, Pennsylvania, he attended Downingtown West High School, where he showcased exceptional talent as a quarterback. His high school career culminated in being named the Maxwell Football Club Pennsylvania Player of the Year, having amassed 2,543 passing yards and 27 touchdowns in his senior year. Despite receiving over 20 scholarship offers, Howard committed to Kansas State, where he played from 2020 to 2023. During his time with the Wildcats, he played in 34 games, throwing for 48 touchdowns and 5,786 yards, and added 19 rushing touchdowns with 921 yards. He also led Kansas State to a Big 12 championship in 2022.
In January 2024, Howard made the pivotal decision to transfer to Ohio State. Reflecting on this choice, he stated, “There was a lot of reasons why, but when I got to the end, it was more, ‘Why not?’ I just felt like this was an opportunity I couldn’t pass up on.” He emphasized the unparalleled talent at Ohio State, noting, “I love my guys at K-State, but the talent here is unbelievable.”
