Ohio State has three players with early Heisman Trophy odds…

These Buckeyes could bring home the bronze statue.

As the 2025 college football season approaches, Ohio State is once again in the national spotlight, boasting three players with early Heisman Trophy odds. The Buckeyes, known for their rich football tradition and consistent production of top-tier talent, are expected to be major contenders for both the Big Ten title and the College Football Playoff. The presence of three Heisman hopefuls highlights the depth and quality of their roster, signaling a season filled with high expectations in Columbus.

1. Devin Brown – Quarterback

Taking over the reins of the Buckeyes’ offense, Devin Brown is a name that’s been generating significant buzz. After competing for the starting job last season, Brown has now solidified his position as the leader of Ohio State’s high-powered offense. His arm strength, mobility, and football IQ make him a dual-threat quarterback capable of dissecting defenses both through the air and on the ground. Early Heisman odds favor Brown due to Ohio State’s explosive offensive system, which has historically produced top Heisman contenders, such as C.J. Stroud, Dwayne Haskins, and Justin Fields. With a talented supporting cast around him, Brown has every opportunity to post eye-popping statistics and lead the Buckeyes deep into the postseason.

2. TreVeyon Henderson – Running Back

TreVeyon Henderson, a dynamic running back, is another Buckeye making waves in the Heisman conversation. Henderson burst onto the scene as a freshman, displaying elite speed, vision, and the ability to break tackles. Despite battling injuries in previous seasons, Henderson has shown resilience and the potential to dominate when healthy. With a fully recovered Henderson expected to be the focal point of the ground game, he could rack up the rushing yards and touchdowns needed to be a serious Heisman contender. His versatility as a pass-catcher out of the backfield also adds another dimension to his game, making him a nightmare for opposing defenses. A strong season from Henderson could not only propel him into Heisman contention but also solidify his status as one of the top running backs in the nation.

3. Emeka Egbuka – Wide Receiver

Wide receivers winning the Heisman is rare, but Emeka Egbuka is talented enough to buck that trend. Following in the footsteps of recent Ohio State stars like Chris Olave, Garrett Wilson, and Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Egbuka has the skill set to be one of the top receivers in the country. His precise route running, reliable hands, and ability to make plays after the catch make him a constant threat on the field. With defenses likely focusing on stopping Henderson and Brown, Egbuka could benefit from favorable matchups, allowing him to amass significant receiving yards and touchdowns. His chemistry with Devin Brown will be key, and if the Buckeyes’ passing game clicks, Egbuka could find himself in New York as a Heisman finalist.

Ohio State having three players in the early Heisman conversation speaks volumes about the program’s strength and depth. While individual accolades are prestigious, the Buckeyes’ ultimate goal remains securing a national championship. However, if any of these players can maintain top-tier performances throughout the season, they’ll not only boost their Heisman chances but also put Ohio State in prime position for a College Football Playoff berth.

The Heisman race is always unpredictable, with mid-season surges and surprise contenders often emerging. But with Devin Brown commanding the offense, TreVeyon Henderson dominating on the ground, and Emeka Egbuka electrifying the passing game, Ohio State fans have plenty of reasons to believe that the Heisman Trophy could return to Columbus for the first time since Troy Smith’s victory in 2006.
