As the Florida State University (FSU) Seminoles gear up for the 2025 football season, attention turns to the potential impact of their top three true freshmen: running back Ousmane Kromah, wide receiver Tae’Shaun Gelsey, and cornerback Antonio Cromartie.

Each brings unique talents to the team, and their integration into the lineup could significantly influence FSU’s performance this season.

Ousmane Kromah: The Dynamic Running Back

Ousmane Kromah’s commitment to FSU was a significant recruiting victory, as he chose the Seminoles over the Georgia Bulldogs during the Early Signing Period. Head coach Mike Norvell personally invested considerable time in Kromah’s recruitment, attending multiple football and basketball games during his high school career.

Kromah’s physical attributes and skill set make him a strong candidate for immediate playing time. Standing at 6 feet and weighing 215 pounds, he possesses the size and strength to withstand collegiate-level defenses. His combination of speed, agility, and vision allows him to exploit gaps and break through tackles effectively.

The Seminoles’ running back room is competitive, but Kromah’s versatility could set him apart. His ability to contribute in both rushing and passing plays aligns with offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn’s strategy, which emphasizes a balanced attack. Given these factors, Kromah is expected to see substantial playing time, potentially emerging as a key contributor in FSU’s offense.

Tae’Shaun Gelsey: The Promising Wide Receiver

Tae’Shaun Gelsey, a 6-foot-4 wide receiver, has garnered attention for his potential to become a significant weapon in FSU’s aerial attack. National scout Cody Bellaire has expressed optimism about Gelsey’s future, highlighting his physical attributes and skill set as indicators of a promising collegiate career.

Gelsey’s height and athleticism provide quarterback Thomas Castellanos with a reliable target, especially in red-zone situations. His ability to win contested catches and stretch the field vertically adds a new dimension to the Seminoles’ offense.

The wide receiver corps at FSU includes experienced players like Squirrel White and Duce Robinson. However, Gelsey’s unique skill set could earn him a spot in the rotation. His performance during spring practices and preseason camps will be crucial in determining his role, but expectations are high for him to make an immediate impact.

Antonio Cromartie: The Tenacious Cornerback

Antonio Cromartie enters FSU with a reputation for physicality and competitiveness. Standing at 5-foot-11 and weighing 170 pounds, he brings a blend of speed and agility to the defensive backfield.

The Seminoles’ secondary is undergoing a transformation, with several young players vying for playing time. Cromartie’s aggressive playing style and ability to read opposing offenses make him a strong candidate for early contributions. His willingness to engage in run support and proficiency in man-to-man coverage align with defensive coordinator Adam Fuller’s scheme.

While competition for starting positions will be intense, Cromartie’s work ethic and adaptability could see him earn significant snaps as a true freshman. His development during spring practices will be pivotal in solidifying his role within the defense.

Conclusion

The 2025 season presents an opportunity for FSU’s top true freshmen to showcase their talents on the collegiate stage. Ousmane Kromah’s versatility, Tae’Shaun Gelsey’s athleticism, and Antonio Cromartie’s tenacity position them well for meaningful playing time. Their integration into the team not only adds depth to the roster but also injects fresh energy into the Seminoles’ pursuit of a successful season.

As these freshmen transition to the demands of college football, their progress will be closely monitored by coaches, teammates, and fans alike. Their ability to adapt and excel will play a crucial role in FSU’s quest to reclaim its status as a powerhouse in the college football landscape.
