Although there is still much to learn, we felt it was important to share what we do know about the next season of the world-famous, record-breaking Netflix and Shondaland television series. Indeed, the excitement is growing!
Season four of Bridgerton: The storyline! With Jess Brownell returning as showrunner and executive producer, as well as executive producers Shonda Rhimes, Betsy Beers, Tom Verica, and Chris Van Dusen, the fourth season of Bridgerton focusses on the free-spirited second son Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson). Benedict is reluctant to get married, even though both his older and younger brothers are contentedly married. That is, until he meets Sophie Baek, a menial housemaid (more on her below), during his mother’s masquerade event. She is a stunning woman in silver. The fourth season of Bridgerton, which will centre on Luke Thompson’s character Benedict, was formally revealed by Netflix. In the Cinderella tale An Offer From a Gentleman, written by Julia Quinn and centred on Benedict, Benedict develops feelings for Sophie, a lowborn woman he encounters at a masquerade party while disguised. Benedict is reluctant to settle down, according to the logline of the series, “even though his younger and older brothers are both happily married—until he meets a captivating Lady in Silver at his mother’s masquerade ball.”
What is the date of release? Regretfully, we won’t likely be able to witness Benedict Bridgerton’s romance develop for some time. The next season won’t be released for a few years, showrunner Jess Brownell told The Hollywood Reporter back in June. After eight months of filming, editing, and dubbing into all languages, Brownell stated, “We are trying to put the seasons out more quickly.” “We’re kind of on a two-year pace, and we’re trying to speed up, but somewhere in that range because the writing takes a very long time as well.”
From the core cast, who is coming back? Along with Thompson, Penelope Bridgerton (née Featherington) actress Nicola Coughlan revealed to The Wrap that she and Colin’s actor Luke Newton will return for the fourth season. They have informed us that we will return for the incredibly beautiful fourth season. “It will be thrilling,” Coughlan remarked. “We’ll definitely return and have a good time.” “I think it’s absolutely possible that [Eloise is] going to open up to love in the future, but we have a little bit more we want to do with her before she’s ready for that,” Brownell told The Wrap, hinting that Claudia Jessie’s character, Eloise Bridgerton, will appear in the fourth season.
What about the possible reunion of Kate and Anthony? “There is hope to have them back as much as we are able to make happen,” Brownell told Glamour, adding that she has “some really exciting thoughts for them both in season 4, and we’re working on it.”
