NORMAN, OK — July 1, 2025 — The unmistakable thunder of drums and brass is already building in Norman as the legendary Pride of Oklahoma Marching Band celebrates a fresh wave of talent joining its 2025 ranks — just in time for a high-stakes January showdown against Arkansas.
In a heartwarming and high-energy post shared on the band’s official Facebook page, the Pride officially welcomed both new and returning members, signaling a powerful new chapter in one of college football’s most iconic musical programs.
Among the standout newcomers is Emily Vazquez, a sophomore alto saxophonist from Tulsa who dreamed of marching in Gaylord Family–Oklahoma Memorial Stadium since childhood. “This has been my dream since I first saw the band live at age 10,” she said. “To wear the crimson and cream and represent OU is something I’ll never take for granted.”
Joining her is Tyler McBride, a freshman snare drummer from Lawton, known for his lightning-fast rudiments and leadership at state competitions. His audition video reportedly went viral within band circles, earning him instant respect from veterans of the drumline. “The energy of this band is unreal,” McBride said. “I’m ready to bring the heat every Saturday.”
The Pride’s 2025 season will be headlined by a marquee bowl game performance against Arkansas in early January — a rematch steeped in historic rivalry and musical showmanship. Band Director Dr. Justin Stolarik emphasized that this incoming class isn’t just technically gifted — they’re passionate ambassadors of Sooner spirit.
“We don’t just play music — we lead the noise, fuel the crowd, and inspire the team,” Dr. Stolarik said. “These students are the pulse of OU football.”
The announcement has fans buzzing across social platforms, with alumni commenting, “Goosebumps already!” and “The Pride never misses!”
With a mix of musical precision, intense spirit, and fresh talent, the 2025 Pride of Oklahoma is locked in to keep the stadium shaking and the Sooners inspired — all the way to Arkansas and beyond.
